France will open a consulate in Greenland as a “political signal” amid Trump’s threats

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Wednesday that France will open a consulate in Greenland on February 6, based on a decision made last year during President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the autonomous Danish territory. The “political signal” to “be more present” in Greenland comes at a time when President Donald Trump threatens to take control of the Arctic region.
