Report: Trump envoys will meet with Putin in Moscow
Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, and envoy Steve Witkoff are traveling to Moscow for another round of peace talks with Vladimir Putin, according to a report.
Sources told Bloomberg that the envoys may meet with the Russian president this month amid faltering efforts by the United States to negotiate an end to the conflict. No date for the meeting was agreed upon.
Witkoff and Kushner met with the Alliance of the Willing, made up of Kiev’s allies, in Paris earlier this month as Britain and France announced a plan to deploy troops in Ukraine in the event of a peace deal.

Polish President says Trump is the only person who can stop Putin’s war in Ukraine
Polish President Karol Nawrocki said that Donald Trump is the only world leader capable of stopping Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Nawrocki said Putin could not be trusted, and added that Russia was actively testing Poland and NATO.
Referring to a wave of drone strikes last September, he described it as an “exceptional situation,” adding that “until that time, no NATO member state had been subjected to a drone attack on this scale.”

He said Trump is the only person who can “solve this problem.”
Poland has been in a state of hybrid war with Russia since 2021, involving drones and disinformation, he said, warning that “we are living in dangerous times.”

The United Nations says 2025 was the deadliest year for Ukrainian civilians
The United Nations confirmed that more than 2,500 Ukrainian civilians were killed during Russian attacks in 2025.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine said the number of civilian casualties recorded in Ukraine last year was 31 percent higher than in 2024 and 70 percent higher than in 2023.
“This rise was driven not only by intensified hostilities along the front line, but also by the expanded use of long-range weapons, exposing civilians across the country to increased risks,” Danielle Bell, who heads the UN monitoring mission in Ukraine, told CNN.

One of the deadliest strikes hit Ternopil on November 19, killing at least 38 civilians, including eight children, and 10 families losing two or more members.
Overall, the United Nations says more than 14,900 civilians have been killed since February 2022, warning that “the actual numbers are likely to be higher.”
