The Hofa legend lasts 50 years after the disappearance of the former union leader in Detroit
It was in September 2012 and dozens of residents looked when the police cordoned off the area around a shed northeast Detroit.
Low whispers about what was – or who were the officers looking for a more enthusiastic gossip when the name Jimmy Hofa began to float around the quiet street.
By that time, the name has become a kind of legendary in Detroit and around it.
On Wednesday, 50 years since the disappearance of the union Fielded Freded Freds, a restaurant is about 10 miles (16 km) north of the city. It is assumed that a long time before his law was declared in 1982, the remains of Hofa were found under the floor of the concrete shed in Roseville in 2012.
It was not revealed eight years ago, below the floor boards at the home of Detroit. It was not found in 2013 on the northwestern Horses Ames farm.
In 2013, the excavation equipment was often found dirt while the authorities drove a field in the town of Oakland, about 25 miles (40 km) north of Detroit. No signs of Hofa were found in 2022 while searching for the Earth under Pulaski Skyway in New Jersey.
Who was Jimmy Hofa?

In 1932, Hofa led the workers’ strike on the weak working conditions and the unfair treatment of the workers by the store, according to a website on the international Muslim Brotherhood website.
He joined Al -Ittihad a year later and became a Local 299 business agent in Detroit.
Hofa was elected a local president in 1937 and will become a union organizer. He often found himself on the other side of the law. In 1937, he was convicted of assault and battery. In 1940, there was no competition for conspiracy charges with union waste paper companies to prevent competitors other than unions from selling their products. Seven years later, he was arrested to try to blackmail. Every time, Hofa only received fines.
Continue the rise in the ranks of the union. From 1957 to 1971, he held the position of head of the General Teamsters team.
Hofa had a history of linking organized crime. In the late 1960s, he was convicted of fraud, conspiracy and manipulation of the jury. It was sent to the Federal Prison in 1967. President Richard Nixon Hofa’s 13 -year -old penalty in 1971 was overlooked.
On July 30, 1975, Hofa, who is now 62 years old, had a towering Detroit Mob enforcement interview Anthony “Tony Jack” Jiakalon and the alleged New Jersey Gots character Anthony “Tony Pro” Provensano at Mathus Red Fox in the town of Bloomfield in Auckland Province.
Hofa called his wife, Josephine, around 2:15 pm from a paid phone to tell her that no one appeared to meet. It has not been seen or heard since then despite dozens of tips and multiple research operations that extend to several states.
A major jury was held later in Detroit, but no one has ever been charged with the disappearance or death of Hofa.
From missing to mythical
“I think this confirms in my mind … someone did a very good job on him,” said Marik Masters, a teacher of Wayne State, on Hofa.
The Mikeh Eucharal Professor at the University of Detroit told Associated Press on Wednesday that Hofa was considering returning to the leadership of the Teamsters team at the time of his disappearance.
“It is still, it was clear that he was enthusiastically participating in the union and wanted to find a way to go forward,” Master said. “Whatever the circumstances, it was tragicly prevented from doing this.”
Hofa was recruited in the Hall of the International Labor Party in 1999, according to the international Muslim Brotherhood for the teams, which refers to Hofa on its website as the “champion of the worker.”
“He was seen as a very emotional hero for the team,” said Master’s. “On the other hand, he had problematic links that he installed on the image of organized work. He was a very controversial figure. He was able to accomplish things and also able to have links that raised questions about his safety.”
