A body was found in a house that exploded in Langley on Friday morning.

The RCMP said in an update on Monday morning that the police were working with the British Columbia coloraine service to identify the deceased person, who previously was a woman.

In addition, the RCMP said that the preliminary examination of the scene has investigators focused on the cause of the explosion and fire, which can be in accordance with what is in an illegal drug extraction laboratory.

However, the police said it could take some time to conclude.

Two people were seriously injured in the explosion on Friday and were placed in the hospital.

A house was destroyed, as well as at least four other houses, one of which operated daycare, were considerably damaged. The explosion also triggered an evacuation of the area.
