The Dutch Parliament urges the government not to join the EU defense spending plans
The Dutch Parliament has urged the government not to participate in the recent EU plans to stimulate European defense expenses.
The plans are involved in response to the withdrawal by Donald Trump of military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, while Europe seeks to stand at its feet to ensure its oriental borders with Russia.
Laxer’s budgetary rules and joint loans would allow countries to spend more for their defense budgets, in the plans greeted by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.
But three of the four parts of the Dutch government coalition supported a motion from a conservative opposition group opposing the financing agreements.
The motion is non -binding and we do not know how the government will react.
Plans, which are currently in detail, can be decided with a qualified majority of EU governments – which means that no country could block them.
