Zurich – Zurich (AP) – A Swiss politician was sentenced to a fine for having bought online pink water pistols because the authorities say that toys have violated the country’s arms law, a local newspaper reported.

Journal Aargauer Zeitung Friday, Marc Jaisli – Member of the local Buchs council, A city west of Zurich – ordered the water pistols in August through the Ultra Low TEMU online retailer for its shares as a gift.

The prosecutors ordered him to pay a fine totaling 6,500 francs ($ 7,390) for a violation of the arms law, arguing that this applied even if the pistols were imitations “because they could be confused for real firearms because of their appearance” – despite the pink color.

Aargauer Zeitung reported that Jaisli said he had not been aware of the violation, but accepted the penalty and had paid the fine.
