Nanton, in Alberta, the RCMP issued a warning concerning the potentially dangerous ice conditions and recommends that anyone who ventures on the ice first checks its thickness and its condition.
The warning was issued after the police responded to reports of people on the ice in the area of Chain lakes Reservoir.
When the officers arrived, they discovered a ice fishing Shack who had broken the ice with several people in a vehicle on the same ice section which tried to remove the structure of the ice.
The Nanton RCMP warns that ice conditions at this time of the year, with recent fluctuations in hot time and temperature, can be potentially dangerous, so it is important to check the depth of the ice, know which lakes are airy and to tell someone where you are in case you are not going back to the scheduled time.
