A Bulgarian football club apologized for having detained a minute for a former player who is still alive.
Arda Kardzhali, which is located in the Bulgarian city in the south of Kardzhali, and plays in the upper division of the country, held the silence of the minute in honor of Petko Ganchev before Sunday’s match against Levski Sofia.
The two teams aligned themselves near the central circle before starting during the 1-1 draw, tilting the head to cry Ganchev.
But, before the end of the match, Arda posted on their Facebook page saying that they had received bad information on the death of Gannév.
The club said: “PFC Arda management would like to express huge excuses to former Arda Petkov player Ganchev and his relatives after the club received bad information on his death.
“We wish Petko Ganchev many years of good health and to enjoy the success of Arda.”
The position seemed to have been deleted on Monday evening.
The draw means that Derda is fifth in the table at 16 teams and can still get a place in European football next season.
Levski remains second, but is 12 points behind the Ludogorets leaders.
